SUEZ Water Technologies & Solutions has always been an innovator. For over 150 years, they have led the way for water and waste management (first to use chlorine in 1908; first to use charcoal filtration in 1930; opened the largest ozone filtration plant in the US in 1989), so it was no surprise that they would be up for the challenge to test the benefits of solar energy. Fortunately, it didn’t take long to see the cost-savings benefits.
How did they do it?
In 2015, Go Power! led an initiative to help SUEZ’s Bruce Ottogalli find a solution to their battery degeneration problem and the costly expenses that followed. The project started with a test run on one of SUEZ’s fleet vehicles. Throughout the next three years, Ottogalli expanded to installing Go Power! solar charging systems on multiple vehicles. With a combination of ready-made and custom kits, installation was a breeze, not to mention products that are tough enough to address any of the demanding requirements of the SUEZ fleet.
Other benefits of solar
In addition to decreased battery-related service calls, SUEZ is also seeing less downtime in their fleet; reduced fuel consumption through eliminated idling; and most importantly, improved customer satisfaction. Initiatives that benefit the environment also play a key role in SUEZ’s commitments. As a renewable resource company, finding ways to incorporate sustainable, clean energy – such as solar – into their operations is fundamental.
“For us, this isn’t just an idea – it’s the philosophy at the heart of our business that we put into practice each and every day,” says Ottogalli.
